The method involves inserting short-circuit rods in grooves of laminated rotor cores (3) such that rod ends (5) of the rods protrude from the rotor cores at both faces (4) of the rotor cores. A mold (7) serving as a template for an outer contour of a short-circuit ring of a squirrel-cage rotor, is filled with molten metal (9). The rod ends are coated and partially brought into the mold such that the molten metal receives a compound during solidification with the ends when the mold is filled with the metal. The rods formed from an electrically conductive material are used as the molten metal. An independent claim is also included for a squirrel-cage rotor for an asynchronous machine.
