Use of generative manufacturing method for layered structure of at least one component (1) of a tank shell of a tank for liquids and/or gases, where the component consists of titanium or an alloy of titanium, is claimed. An independent claim is also included for manufacturing a fuel tank, comprising: constructing at least one component of a tank shell of the tank layerwise with a generative manufacturing method, where the component consists of titanium or an alloy of titanium and exhibits a hollow shape, which is defined by a wall with a wall thickness, and further processing the component after the layerwise construction of the component, to produce the final dimension of the component.
