The vehicle (1) has a battery (2) and an air duct (3) that connects a proximity (4) of the battery with a vehicle interior (5). A crash sensor (6) and/or a gas sensor (7) are arranged in the duct or in the interior. A closing device has a closing unit (8) i.e. closing flap, that closes the duct by deforming a deformation element i.e. airbag-type inflatable gas bag, where the closing process is triggered by a signal of the crash sensor and/or the gas sensor. The closing device has a triggering unit i.e. electromechanical or pyrotechnical element, for triggering closing of the duct. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a vehicle.
