The instrument (10) has a tool (14), and a gripper (22) to grip the instrument by a hand (56). The gripper comprises gripper arms (24, 26), where movement of the gripper arms causes motion of the tool. A holder (46) is arranged at the instrument. The instrument is attached to the hand by the holder in a captive manner, without gripping the gripper or the gripper arms. The holder comprises a finger ring (52) that lies at a middle finger and/or a ring finger. The holder is provided with a frictional surface in a region in which the holder contacts with the hand. The surface is made of silicone.
