The device has a remote controlled house bell pushbutton or an hour hand (7) for releasing a signal of a cuckoo (4) at a desired waking time, where the device is formed as a cuckoo clock (1). A rotatable switching ring (5) has an electric contact (6) that is actuated by the hour hand, and contact paths (8) are attached to an external side of the switching ring. A solenoid (10) operates a release lever that releases the cuckoo and a sound spring, and a battery (14) supplies current to the solenoid.
