The system has a lining element (10) and an accommodating space (12) for accommodating an airbag (14). The accommodating space is partially formed by the lining element. The lining element has a hinge side (20) and an opening side (22) that are connected with each other by an articulated connection. The hinge side of the lining element is detachably inserted into a fastening unit (24) for fastening the lining element in an interior of a motor vehicle. The fastening unit is connected with a body of the motor vehicle and designed as a profile rail.
