An improved parking aid for a road vehicle has sensors spaced around the vehicle and a processor control to compute the optimum trajectory to back the vehicle into a space between two parked vehicles. The system determines how many back and forwards movements are required and backs the vehicle into the space, leaving sufficient room for access to the vehicle doors. The system includes a touch screen to interact with the driver.
