The pump (1) has a valve device (15) i.e. control valve, arranged in a control line (10) guided to a control pressure chamber (7a) of a setting piston device (6). A hydraulic reset signal is produced by f the valve device from displacement pressure of the pump by the valve device. The reset signal subjects the setting piston device in a direction of reduction of the displacement volume of the pump. The valve device limits the setting speed of the pump in a direction of the increase of displacement volume depending on a displacement pressure slew rate of the pump.
