A method for regulating a separation system with a reverse osmosis element, a raw water pump, a concentrate and a permeate discharge is described, a predetermined yield being kept essentially constant. For this purpose, the raw water pump is regulated according to the invention as a function of a flow rate measurement of the raw water between the raw water pump and the reverse osmosis element.
