The method involves storing program codes for video-based applications, where the codes are executed by a digital signal processor (3) during activation of the corresponding application. Capacity of the processor is formed such that the codes of the maximum number of applications are parallelly executed by the processor, and each of the applications is individually activated or deactivated depending on a parameter. The parameter is predefined such that exceeding of the capacity of the processor is prevented by parallel execution of the respective codes of the activated applications. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance system comprising a memory device for storing program codes for video-based applications.
