The method involves longitudinally cutting a paper web at its center into two equal half webs that are parallely conveyed above one another. A set of glue lines is synchronously applied on an open side of one of the half webs before the half webs are joined together. The sectionally glued two-layered half webs are longitudinally cut into two two-layered quarter webs on whose open ends another set of glue lines is synchronously applied. Sectionally glued fourfold paper webs are cross-sectioned orthogonal to a rolling direction, and are supplied to a collecting device. An independent claim is also included for a device for producing printed products.
