The permanent magnet synchronous machine has a stator and a rotor (12). The rotor has multiple pole pieces (13) with recesses for receiving of permanent magnets. The pole pieces are distributed over the periphery. The pole pieces have other recesses (19) for receiving of damper bars of a steamboat cage.
