Aqueous dispersion comprises a component (a) (30-30 wt.%, based on the total weight of the dispersion) containing poly(meth)acrylic acid and/or at least one (meth)acrylic acid copolymer, and a component (b) (5-35 wt.%, based on the total weight of the dispersion) containing at least one polyurethane having at least one component capable of salt formation by releasing a proton in water, where the components (a) and (b) are present as a salt. An independent claim is also included for preparing the aqueous dispersion, comprising: (i) separating an aqueous dispersion containing the component (a) and an aqueous dispersion containing the component (b) by adding a compound which acts as a base against the components (a) and (b), converting the components into dispersions of polymeric salts; and (ii) mixing the components with each other.
