The method involves relating an output signal (7) with a position of a movable device i.e. selector lever. Another output signal (8) corresponds with another position of the movable device, where the positions are detected by a position sensor (1). The output signals are delivered as pulse width modulated signals by the sensor. The output signals are combined to a unique common output signal (12) and exhibit same frequency. The former output signal corresponds with a neutral position of the movable device, and the latter output signal corresponds with a return position of the movable device.
