The method involves carrying out voltage evaluation in two switches e.g. MOSFET transistors (150-168), and insulated-gate bipolar transistor in branches (130-138), where the branches are associated with multiple phases (106-114). Counter measure is carried out during occurrence of malfunction in one of the switches in the branches by the other switch. An error message is activated during occurrence of malfunction, where the error message is transferred to a controller via a digital interface. An independent claim is also included for a circuit arrangement for monitoring a rectifier.
