The invention relates to a method for determining deadlock-critical relationships between networked components of a vehicle system, in which a graph (100, 610) with nodes (DFC_1, DFC_2, FID_1, FID_2, 1, 2, 3, 4) that at least partially depicts the blocking relationships defined in the vehicle system. and edges (110, 111, 120, 121) is proposed, in which classifying at least some of the edges (110, 111, 120, 121) based on the properties of the edges (110, 111, 120, 121) and the nodes connected by the edges (DFC_1, DFC_2, FID_1, FID_2, 1, 2, 3, 4), prioritizing the edges (110, 111, 120, 121) based on the classification, and determining the shortest deadlock-critical cycles for all Node (DFC_1, DFC_2, FID_1, FID_2, 1, 2, 3, 4) and at least some edges (110, 111, 120, 121) is made based on the prioritization. A corresponding device is also proposed.
