The cover (10) has a pressure compensation device (12) for compensating pressure difference between an interior of a transmission housing (14) closed by the cover and surrounding. A sealing element (19) is arranged in an area of the pressure compensation device and seals a connection between an inspection stamp and the housing cover during functional testing of the pressure compensation device. The sealing element is axially arranged at a distance and opposite to a surface (44) of the pressure compensation device and is made of thermoplastic elastomer. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a testing device for testing a pressure compensation device arranged in a cover (2) a method for testing leak tightness of a pressure compensation device.
