The turbocharger (12) has a turbine (13) and a bypass (18) that is associated with the turbine. A fluid connection between a high pressure side (19) and a low pressure side (20) of the turbine is producible by the bypass. The bypass includes a jet pump (21) for producing negative pressure in a vacuum pipe (30). The vacuum pipe is a part of an exhaust gas pipe (22) arranged on the low pressure side of the turbine. The bypass exhibits a cross section adjusting element i.e. poppet valve, for adjustment of exhaust gas quantity flowing through the jet pump.
