The device has a closure cap (6), an axle (7), a linkage (8) and a float (9) closing a main discharge line (2) if a liquid level in a tank (1) falls below a predetermined level (11). A diameter of an auxiliary discharge line (3) is smaller than a diameter of the main discharge line. A bearing pin is attached at a tank bottom (5). The auxiliary discharge line ends proximate to the tank bottom than the main discharge line. The closure flap is connected with the float by the linkage and rotated around the axle. An independent claim is also included for a method for deflation of a tank.
