Bringing small lumpy, mineral carbonates in combustible form, comprises grinding the carbonates to a particle size of = 1 mm, adjusting the moisture content of the grounded carbonates to 2-8 wt.%, mixing the grounded, wet carbonates with starch, cellulose and/or their derivatives (the added amount of starch, cellulose and/or their derivatives in total, amounts to 1-10 wt.% of the mass of the grounded carbonates), and compacting the resulting mixture by a roller press. An independent claim is also included for a briquettes or granulate from essentially calcium carbonate, obtained by the above mentioned method.
