The method involves impinging a portion of the surface area of the treatment device with current for cleaning the dust deposits. The surface area is in contact with the dust-containing exhaust gas. The current impingement takes place in the form of an impulse current (9) which is generated with impulse duration of one microsecond and a maximum of five milliseconds and current intensity of 1 ampere to 40 ampere. The impulse current is generated with a damped, aperiodic impulse form. An independent claim is also included for a method for executing the dust deposit removing method.
