The method involves forming a smooth pipe (1) in an extrusion process. Pressure elements (6, 7) are concentrically arranged around the pipe, equipped with a negative contour of regularly arranged buckling or bending structures with folds or ridges (3, 4) and recesses or calottes (5) and are moved radially against the pipe from outside. Radial deformation force is formed perpendicular to a pipe wall and simultaneously membrane force is formed in a peripheral direction of the wall. Multi-dimensional structures are formed in the wall with locally constant or nearly constant wall thickness. An independent claim is also included for a multi-dimensionally structured pipe.
