The interleaf (17) has a layer (26) designed as a central layer and an additional layer (27) connected with additional components of an identification document i.e. book-like identification document (11) such as passport by a seam (16) in a folding area (23) of the identification document. The additional layer forms a folding edge (24) in the folding area. The folding area is formed by a hinged strip e.g. fabric tape, that extends as a loop (39) in the layer through a recess (36). A loop end (37) of the strip extends into the folding area by the folding edge for merging by the seam. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a book-like identification document comprising a book cover and an interleaf (2) a method for producing an interleaf.
