The system has an evaluation device for processing and/or storing response signals. Device-related location information is coded on fixed information carriers (15, 17) assigned to a measuring machine (1). Component information are coded on mobile information carriers (16, 18, 19) assigned to a workpiece holder (5) and a measuring head (20). A transmitter/receiver device (7) is formed in such a manner that the device-related information and the component information are commonly read to test presence of predetermined correlation between the device-related and component information. An independent claim is also included for a method for matching device-related location information of a measuring machine with component information of a component.
