The device has a light sensor (4) arranged for detecting light of a light source (3), where the light is reflected by a component i.e. tube (6), during operation. An evaluation unit (5) is connected with the light sensor to determine a movement variable of a measuring device i.e. measuring yoke (1) based on an output signal of the light sensor. The movement variable is determined as speed of the measuring device relative to the component. The sensor is designed as a charge coupled device sensor and red green blue-complementary metal oxide semiconductor-surface sensor (8). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a measuring yoke that comprises a LED-system (2) a method for determining position of the measuring device.
