The method involves positioning a sanitary insert (14) in a mouth area, and pressing and hardening the sanitary insert against inner walls of a main pipe line (H) and a branch pipe line (Z) by inflating an inflation body (11). The sanitary insert is pressed against the inner wall of the main pipe line by another inflation body (17) arranged in the main pipe line, and the sanitary insert is pressed against the inner wall of the branch pipe line by the former inflation body. The latter inflation body is arranged in a base body (12) of the former inflation body. An independent claim is also included for a device for inserting a hardenable sanitary insert into a mouth area between a main pipe line and a branch pipe line comprising an inflation body with a base body arranged inside the main pipe line.
