The device comprises an outer ring (1) and an inner ring (2), where the outer ring comprises a coil arrangement operable as pulse-induction toroidal coil (5) or as very low frequency transmission and receiving coils (6,7). The inner ring has a coil arrangement for operating very low frequency transmission and receiving coils. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a device for electronic detection of a metal object with a switching possibility between a very low frequency detection and a pulse-induction detection.
