The device has two tool parts executing linear or curved movement relative to each other. An electromotively drivable threaded spindle (23) and a hydraulic drive are provided for obtaining a relative movement for the tool parts. A spindle nut (29) is displaceably arranged in axial direction while moving a piston (21) of the hydraulic drive. The hydraulic drive unit is arranged with the piston and a hydraulic cylinder (20) in axial direction while moving the spindle or the spindle nut, where distances of the electrical drive and the hydraulic drive are added. An independent claim is also included for a machine for processing plastics.
