Inductive proximity sensor with temperature compensation

An inductive proximity sensor with temperature compensation is disclosed. The temperature compensation uses a ΣΔ modulator to sample and digitize the temperature of a temperature sensor, for example the resistance value of a temperature-dependent resistor. A first digital filter stage with a low-pass characteristic normalizes the digitized values in such a way that the standardized values form addresses of a look-up table. The look-up table maps the temperature response of the inductive proximity sensor and supplies a sequence of digital look-up values to a second filter stage, which generates a sequence of temperature compensation values which are used by an evaluation unit for temperature compensation.
