The alignment aid (20) has a rotor (21) rotatable around an axis of rotation (24), and light sources (25, 26) arranged at the rotor for producing two light beams (31, 32), where one of the light beams specifies different rotation bodies during rotation of the rotor. The light sources are arranged at a distance to the axis of rotation, and orientation of the light beams is different from the orientation of the axis of rotation. The rotor has a holder (23) for fastening the rotor at a shaft of a portable power tool, where the holder is arranged coaxial to the axis of rotation. An independent claim is also included for a method for vertically aligning an axis to underground.
