The engine e.g. three-cylinder internal combustion engine (10'), has cylinders (12, 14', 16), and a crankshaft (32) with crank pins (34, 36, 40) arranged in an angle of 180 degrees to each other in a circumferential direction of the crankshaft. Reciprocating mass forces resulting from rotation of the crankshaft and assigned to the crank pins are balancable by a piston rod (60') assigned to one of the crank pins and/or by a piston (44) and/or by a piston bolt (52') assigned to the pin. The crank pins directly respond to each other in a longitudinal extending direction of the crankshaft.
