The system has a cooling system (3) coupled with an exhaust gas line (1) that guides exhaust gas (10). An exhaust gas cooler (31) discharges residual heat energy through fluid in a hydraulic circuit (50) of the exhaust gas cooler, where the residual heat energy is removed from the exhaust gas. An air conditioner (2) is provided with a heat exchanger (21), and the exhaust gas cooler is hydraulically coupled with the heat exchanger through the circuit. The heat exchanger includes a regulated guiding unit (28) for loading with outer air (80) and/or recirculation air (81). An independent claim is also included for a method for occupying sensitive and latent residual heat energy of exhaust gas of a burner of a heating system.
