The method for processing fire-extinguishing water of a fire extinguishing system (1), comprises carrying out an adequate protection of the fire-extinguishing water against general water supply (2) by reduction of microbiological load of the fire-extinguishing water without requiring a complete system separation of the general water supply from the fire extinguishing system. The protection of the fire-extinguishing water is carried out by a system separator as an allowable protection against the general water supply. The method for processing fire-extinguishing water of a fire extinguishing system (1), comprises carrying out an adequate protection of the fire-extinguishing water against general water supply (2) by reduction of microbiological load of the fire-extinguishing water without requiring a complete system separation of the general water supply from the fire extinguishing system. The protection of the fire-extinguishing water is carried out by a system separator as an allowable protection against the general water supply. The reduction of the microbiological load is converted to the extinguishing water of the fluid category according to DIN EN 1717 into the fluid category according to EN 1717.
