The component (1) e.g. exhaust gas pipe (6), has a thermoelectric layer (8) forming thermoelectric generator (2). The thermoelectric layer is adhesively attached to a wall (4) at an outer side such that the layer and the wall are thermally coupled. Another wall (9) partially or sectionally surrounds the wall and is arranged in a radial direction under formation of a hollow space (10). A thermally insulating coating (5) is attached at an internal side on one of the walls (4). A third wall is arranged before the former wall (4).
