The method involves arranging a color profile that corresponds to a print layout, on a surface of a rotary ductor-roller (2). An adjusting element (17) is operated at a zonal acting measuring element (14), so that a desired clearance is adjusted between the measuring element and the surface. A dependence between the clearance and dosing forces (F) acting on the measuring element is allowed during clearance adjustment, where the forces are determined depending on an angle of rotation of the roller. The determined dependence is stored in form of a characteristic in a color control device (20).
