The ramp system has a fastening unit (15) holding the ramp carrier (20) near a loading opening, especially at the rear of the vehicle. The ramp (35) is universally-jointed at one end (40) to the carrier (20). The ramp surface optionally includes a tread and can be detachably fastened to the carrier with the tread surface horizontal. It can also be attached to the carrier and/or the vehicle opening, such that the tread surface extends to the ground or a loading ramp.
