The cylinder head (1) has multiple combustion chambers (31) for chemically converting a fuel with a fresh air under the delivery of heat and mechanical energy. A water cooling unit (5) is provided for cooling the combustion chambers and an exhaust outlet fluid path. The water cooling unit has an exhaust outlet cooling fluid path that is adjusted at an outer contour of the exhaust outlet fluid path. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle with a cylinder head.
