The device has a canopy closing drive (5) i.e. rocket, connected with a canopy (3) by a rope (6) or a cable, where flight direction of the rocket is rearwardly inclined and upwardly inclined relative to the canopy. The canopy closing drive removes the canopy from an aircraft (1) after actuating a release switch and releasing a canopy holding device. The canopy closing drive is engaged on an outer side of the canopy, where the outer side is faced towards a cabin (4). The canopy is made of Plexiglass(RTM: Polymethylmethacrylate). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an aircraft comprising a cabin (2) a method for closing a canopy of an aircraft.
