The fuel injection system has a high pressure fuel pump (13), which sucks fuel during operation from a low-pressure range, and compacted on high pressure and high pressure storage (8). The high pressure storage with an end (12) is arranged immediately at the high pressure fuel pump, so that compacted fuel is supplied to the high pressure storage.
