The method involves generating a permanent magnetic layer (120) from a permanent magnetic negative resist, on a part of a surface of a carrier. A given portion of the magnetic layer is selectively radiated (130) with a determined radiation to change the solubility of the resist in the portion. A molding tool is placed on the carrier, and a recess is partially filled with the resist that is made of polymer. The resist is radiated in the recess with a determined radiation so that the resist is cured to a permanent magnetic structure in the recess, and the tool is removed from the carrier. The permanent magnetic negative resist is selected from UV light sensitive photoresist, an X-ray resist, an electron resist or an ion resist. An independent claim is also included for a permanent magnet comprising a permanent magnetic structure.
