The device (01) has a trunnion, which has two driving elements, which are engaged for transmission of torque at an inner periphery of the material roll (02) or the sleeve. A spindle is arranged movable in and against an axial direction (A). The device is transformed from an operational position into another operational position by the movement of the spindle. Two intermediate elements are arranged between the spindle and the driving elements. The intermediate elements are formed in a rotationally symmetrical manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for fixing a material roll or a sleeve of a material roll to a trunnion.
