The machine (1) has a stator (3) comprising a winding system i.e. fed-in winding, arranged in grooves. The winding system forms a winding head (5) at front ends of the stator. The winding system has cooling channels for cooling the winding head. The cooling channels are formed by elements, where the elements are arranged between a coil of the winding system and a phase insulation or between two coils of different phase as the phase insulation. The elements are designed as partial conductor insulation and/or main insulation. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a stator of an electric machine.
