The method involves supplying electricity to an electric motor of an electric vehicle by an energy storage, and providing a brake pedal for braking the electric vehicle, where the vehicle is accelerated by an accelerator. A reference-recuperation moment is provided by a control element (4). Recuperation of the electric vehicle is automatically executed based on the reference-recuperation moment during recuperation operation of the vehicle to brake the vehicle relative to the moment and to supply the electricity to the energy storage by the motor operated as a generator. An independent claim is also included for an electric vehicle comprising a control device.
