The method involves moving a rear window (3) of a motor vehicle in a lowering direction based on s-shaped adjusting path. The movement of the rear window in the lowering direction is stopped and the rear window is moved in a lifting direction during jamming of the rear window. A front window is held in an actual position during the jamming. Front and rear window lifter motors (5, 6) are controlled by a control device (4) during operation of front and rear window lifting buttons (7, 8), where the rear window is designed analog to a front window (2) in a closed condition. An independent claim is also included for a control device for controlling an electrical window lifter.
