The module (200) has photovoltaic cells (100) coupled electrically in series, where each cell comprises a photoactive layer stack (3b) that exhibits a n-doped layer (33b), a p-doped layer (31b) and an intrinsic layer (32b). A rear contact (4) arranged on the stack comprises a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layer (4a), a mirror layer (4c) i.e. metallic layer, and a partially applied detention network layer (4b) that is arranged between the TCO and mirror layers. A partially applied nickel vanadium layer (4d) is located on the mirror layer in a region of an outer photovoltaic cell (100a). The TCO layer is formed as zinc oxide layer or tin oxide layer. The metallic layer comprises silver or a silver alloy. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a photovoltaic module.
