The method involves blocking transfer of data between subscribers (11, 12) of a subsystem (10) and subscribers (21, 22, 31, 32, 41, 42) of another subsystem, outside the former subsystem by a determination unit (2) at a local transfer interval of a communication cycle of the former subsystem. An interface (2-10) is blocked towards the former subsystem by the determination unit. Local data is transferred between the two of the subscribers of the latter subsystem at a local transfer interval of a communication cycle of the latter subsystem. An independent claim is also included for a time-controlled communication system comprising a time-controlled subsystem.
