The method involves receiving an input signal (2), and separating the signal into two partial signals (4.1-4.n). Signal energy of a signal of one of the partial signals is determined by an energy determination device (6), and a signal to be quantized is determined from the signal of the partial signal. Resolution for quantizing the signal is determined based on the determined signal energy, and a signal prediction is executed for determining the signal to be quantized, where prediction-coefficients produced by the signal prediction are quantized. An independent claim is also included for a device for analyzing an input signal.
