Leak test apparatus i.e. mass spectrometer, for determining whether e.g. container, is gas-tight, has reservoir connected with test gas sensor when test gas concentration at test gas sensor exceeds threshold value in standby mode

The apparatus has a test gas sensor (10) e.g. wise sensor, an external air terminal (21), and a measuring terminal (20) connected by valves (V1-V3) in a testing mode. The external air terminal is connected with the test gas sensor in a standby mode. A reservoir (27) filled with non-contaminated flushing gas e.g. helium, is connected with the test gas sensor when test gas concentration at the test gas sensor exceeds a threshold value in the standby mode. The reservoir is connected with the test gas sensor for decontamination of the sensor while the valves disable the measuring terminal. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating of a leak test apparatus.
