The device has a medical unit i.e. laser, controlled by a program-controlled computer and including one of plug interfaces e.g. universal serial bus (USB)interface, compact flashinterface, and secure digitalcard interface, for a data storage medium i.e. USBmemory stick. The medical unit electrically and signal-technically decouples a data printing device that includes another interface for the medium. The computer writes data in the medium over the former interface. The printing device reads and prints the data stored on the medium. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a medical practice device for ophthalmic surgical treatment of a patient.
