The present invention proposes a method for promoting the restoration of at least one function of the skin of a second area of skin or another area or tissue, with the application of cells, which were obtained in each case from hair root sheaths of a first area of skin of a donor, to a second area of skin or another area or tissue of a recipient. Cells, a preparation, the use of cells and a method for producing a preparation are also proposed.
